Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What exactly does a Nutritional Therapist do? At Nourish & Thrive, Nutritional Therapy goes beyond “healthy eating.” I look at root causes, not just symptoms — exploring how your diet, stress levels, hormones, gut health, sleep and lifestyle all interact. Together we create a personalised plan that supports your body to rebalance, restore energy, and thrive long term.

Who do you help? People come to work with me for a wide range of reasons, including: - Constant tiredness, low energy or burnout - Stress, anxiety or emotional overwhelm - Digestive discomfort, IBS or bloating - Hormonal issues – PMS, period pain, perimenopause or menopause - Weight gain or difficulty losing weight - Food cravings, emotional eating or blood-sugar crashes - Skin conditions such as acne, rosacea or psoriasis - Headaches and migraines - Fertility preparation or post-pregnancy recovery. I also support people with diagnosed metabolic conditions such as: - Type 2 Diabetes - PCOS - Hypothyroidism / Hyperthyroidism - Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease - Gout - Obesity. If you’re feeling “not quite yourself,” you’re in the right place.

Can you help with weight loss — including after GLP-1 medications like Mounjaro or Wegovy? Yes. Many clients come to me because they want to lose weight in a healthy, sustainable way or reduce side-effects, improve outcomes and maintain bone density during and after GLP-1 medications. I specialise in supporting: - Appetite regulation - Blood-sugar balance - Muscle retention - Metabolism recovery - Reducing loose skin after rapid weight loss - Emotional eating and food cravings My approach is not restrictive. It’s about nourishing your body, balancing hunger hormones, and helping you eat with confidence and ease.

What happens during a consultation? Your initial consultation is 60 minutes and includes: - A deep dive into your health story, symptoms and lifestyle - A review of medical history, medications and test results - Understanding your goals and what’s getting in your way - A personalised nutraceutical, nutrition and lifestyle plan - Recommendations for functional testing if appropriate Follow-ups refine your plan, monitor progress and adapt it to your real life.

How personalised is the support? Completely. No two clients receive the same plan. Your nutrition, supplements, lifestyle tools and mindset strategies are tailored to your body, your symptoms and your goals.

What kind of results can I expect? Most clients notice improvements within the first few weeks, such as: - More stable energy - Fewer cravings - Better digestion - Improved sleep - Clearer thinking - More balanced hormones - Feeling calmer and more in control around food Longer-term results include weight change, symptom resolution and renewed confidence in your health.

Do you offer meal plans or recipe support? Yes — I provide: - Personalised meal ideas - Easy recipes tailored to time, taste and dietary preferences - Shopping lists - Batch-cooking guidance for busy lifestyles My plans are simple, practical and enjoyable — not restrictive.

Can Nutritional Therapy work alongside my GP or medication? Absolutely. I frequently support clients who are on medication or under medical care. Nutritional Therapy complements conventional treatment and can improve outcomes in conditions such as diabetes, PCOS, thyroid disorders and high cholesterol.

I’m a busy person with limited time. Will this be manageable? Yes. Your programme is designed to fit your lifestyle, not overwhelm it. We focus on small, powerful changes that feel natural and achievable — even if you have a demanding job, children, or minimal cooking time.

Do you provide accountability and ongoing support? Yes — this is a core part of the Nourish & Thrive approach. Programmes include WhatsApp support, tweaks between sessions, and support when life gets complicated. I walk the journey with you so you never feel like you’re doing this alone.

How do you help with emotional eating or food cravings? We explore what drives your cravings — blood sugar, stress hormones, sleep, nutrient deficiencies or emotional triggers — and create practical tools to help you feel more in control. Clients often tell me this is life-changing.

Do you work with fertility or post-pregnancy health? Yes. I support clients who are preparing for pregnancy or rebuilding strength and hormonal balance after childbirth. Nourishing your body properly during this phase can have profound benefits.

How does your approach differ from a dietitian or personal trainer? Nutritional therapy focuses on functional, root-cause health — how the whole body works together. My role is to connect your systems, symptoms and lifestyle patterns to create a long-term solution, not a temporary fix.

What is the investment? Programmes provide the best results because they include: - A full 60-minute initial consultation - Follow-up sessions - Personalised nutrition + supplement plan - WhatsApp support - Recipes, meal ideas and lifestyle guidance A programme consisting of an initial appointment, 2 follow up appointments and WhatsApp support throughout costs £500.

How do I know if this is right for me? If any of the following resonate, you’re ready: - “I’m tired of feeling tired.” - “I know what I should do but need support.” - “I want more energy and confidence in my body.” - “I’m overwhelmed trying to figure this out alone.” - “I want a compassionate, science-backed approach.” If you’re motivated for change and open to support, this will work beautifully for you.

How do I get started? Simply book a discovery call fort a chat and we can take it from there

Where do the consultations take place? Are they in person or virtual? I have a lovely clinic room in West Oxford which I recommend for an initial consultation. However there is always the option of a virtual consult if that is your preference.
